Registered spring job fair employers break record

This is a record breaking year for the Smith Career Center’s Spring Job and Internship Fair.

There are currently 131 employers registered to be at the arena for the fair next week, which is a large increase from last year’s fair, which had only 98 employers.

“We have the most [employers] we’ve ever had at a job fair,” said Jane Linnenburger, Executive Director of the Smith Career Center. “There are opportunities for all majors at the fair, even for nursing and health science students.”

Not only are there jobs and internships available for all majors, but there will also be employers from all over the country at the fair.

“I encourage students to go up and talk to employers who interest them and ask about opportunities with their company,” said Linnenburger.

Employers for the Spring Job and Internship Fair include Caterpillar Inc., Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Sherwin-Williams Company, Six Flags Great America, Illinois Department of Transportation and OSF Healthcare System.

On-campus interviews begin the day after the fair, Feb. 9. The schedules for these interviews can be found on the eRecruiting website.

Up until the fair, the Smith Career Center is holding several workshops to prepare students. Today the SCC is hosting a Resume Critique Day and the Now That’s Professional Fashion Show. Monday there will be a workshop on Seven Steps to Job Fair Success and a Resume ER Drop In.

Later this month, there will be more opportunities for students at the Smith Career Center’s Social Service, Recreation and Education Career Fair on Feb. 23. There are already about 60 employers registered for it, and the Career Center is getting more every day.

A complete list of the employers for all of the fairs can be found on the Smith Career Center website as well as on eRecruiting, which can be accessed through myBU.

The spring job and internship fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 8.
