BU rally raises school spirit

Hilltop spirit came out in full force for the Red and White Jam.

The basketball band, cheerleaders and Bravettes dance team performed in the Renaissance Coliseum Saturday during Parents Weekend.

This high-energy event featured contemporary songs such as “Thrift Shop” and the “Ghostbusters” theme song, and the Bravettes performed dance numbers to various songs including Missy Elliot’s “The Rain” and a performance based on the novel “The Great Gatsby”.

The cheerleaders pumped up the crowd and created an environment rich in team spirit. Many family members said they had fun, and Kaboom! made an appearance as well.

The voice of the Braves, Dave Snell ’76, narrated the event and awarded The Spirit on the Hilltop Award to Senior Associate Athletic Director Craig Dahlquist.

Senior industrial engineering major Stephen Koch said he believed the event was positive for both parents and students.

“I think the Red and White Jam is a great way to give students the opportunity to demonstrate all the hard work they have been doing, and it is a great way for parents to be able to see all of the hard work that goes into the school year,” Koch said.

Junior biology major Annita Mathew said the Red and White Jam seems to be gaining popularity.

“The spirit for Bradley seems to be getting bigger throughout the year, which is good,” Mathew said. “It was nice to see the Bravettes and cheerleaders come out and support the basketball band.”
