Your friendly neighborhood artsy girl

Ever since I could hold a crayon, I knew I wanted to go into art.

My mom told me that when I was around four years old, I proudly exclaimed that I wanted to be an artist. During the summers when I was young, I spent what seemed like never-ending days at daycare. Sure, there were board games and a pretty cool playground, but what really captured my imagination were the buckets and buckets of white scrap paper and the coffee tin full of freshly sharpened pencils.

I’d spend all day at the drawing table, doodling whatever came to mind; my favorite cartoon character, what the weather was like outside the window, where we were going for that day’s field trip. My friends would often come up to me with drawing requests and I’d happily oblige, loving the smile that my doodle brought to their face.

Even throughout middle and high school, I never stopped drawing. In college, I finally decided to pursue a career in animation.

During these past four years at Bradley, I have learned so much. Not just from my classes, but also my friends whose different artistic styles and passion for the industry have inspired me and helped me to become a better artist.

As I prepare for graduation and reflect on the artsy path that led me to where I am now, I can’t wait to see what the future holds for a girl who still can’t seem to put down her scrap paper and pencil.
