Police Reports: 2016-04-15

  • There was an apartment building fire at an unknown time April 9 on the 1000 block of N. University St. The three male residents were told it could be up to six months until they are able to return to the apartment. According to a Peoria Journal Star article, the fire caused approximately $180,000 in damages. The cause of the fire is unknown.
  • A female employee reported she felt uncomfortable with an email a female alumna sent her at 9:29 a.m. April 7. The email accused the employee of looking into the alumna’s private student records and violating FERPA. The accusations were unfounded.
  • A Safety Cruiser backed into a parked car at 12:55 a.m. April 9 on the 1600 block of W. Barker Avenue. A male student was driving the Safety Cruiser and accidentally backed into a parked car, which scratched both vehicles.
  • A female student vomited when riding in a Safety Cruiser at 2:24 a.m. April 9 on the 1200 block of W. Main Street. The student admitted to drinking, was of a legal drinking age and refused a breathalyzer test. She refused medical treatment and was released.
  • A female student fell asleep in her dorm bathroom at 3:30 a.m. April 9 at 1312 W. Main Street. The female registered a .139 BAC, and she was underage. The student refused medical treatment, and officers escorted her back to her room.
  • A male student smelled something burning at 11:16 p.m. April 11 in Markin Recreational Center. Officers discovered a motor belt burning on the curtain divider in the main gym.
