Bradley hires Price-Torok as the program’s ninth volleyball coach

Carol Price-Torok was named the new head coach of Bradley’s volleyball team, the athletic department announced Thursday.

Price-Torok comes to Bradley after spending eight years at the University of Arkansas, where she served as the recruiting coordinator and associate head coach for the past four seasons. While in Fayetteville, she helped the Razorbacks reach back-to-back NCAA Tournaments in 2012 and 2013.

“I would like to thank Dr. Chris Reynolds and Bradley University for this amazing opportunity,” Price-Torok said in a statement. “Arkansas is a special place that has given me opportunities to work with great people and student-athletes both on and off the court. I am looking forward to those same opportunities at Bradley.”

Originally from Fenton, Michigan, Price-Torok graduated from Texas A&M, where she was part of four consecutive NCAA Tournament teams. After playing middle blocker for the Aggies her freshman and sophomore years, she moved to outside hitter her junior and senior years.

In four of the last five seasons at Arkansas, her Razorbacks were over .500 in SEC play with a combined 88-66 record overall. After a poor first season going 7-23, Price-Torok guided the team to gradual improvement during the next four years. During her tenure, Arkansas produced four All-Americans, five all-region players and eight all-SEC selections.

Price-Torok said she is excited to begin working with the team at Bradley, who finished dead last in the Missouri Valley Conference last season, going 1-17 in the conference and 6-24 overall.

“There is room for tremendous growth for Bradley volleyball, and I am very humbled to be the next head coach to lead the program into a new chapter,” Price-Torok said in a statement. “I am ready to get to work and share my love for volleyball and passion for people with Bradley University and the surrounding community.”

After her playing career, Price-Torok ventured into coaching, starting as an assistant at D-III Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. From there, she moved over to Texas-San Antonio and guided them to a 19-13 overall record.

In the statement, Director of Athletics Chris Reynolds said Price-Torok’s experience makes her the right fit as Bradley’s head volleyball coach.

“Carol is a proven winner and an exceptional leader,” Reynolds said in a statement.  “She helped transform Arkansas into one of the top programs in the SEC and she has experienced success at every stop in her career as both a student-athlete and a coach. Her experience, attention to detail and perseverance all will be great assets to Bradley Volleyball and the growth of the program.”
