Lemek sets MVC record as golf finishes ninth in Florida

The Bradley women’s golf team swung for a title at the Pat Bradley Invitational in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, last weekend. The team finished ninth overall and was paced by performances from junior Danielle Lemek (7th place finish) and senior Jenna Roadley (tied for 31st).

Lemek’s domination has not gone unnoticed. For the second straight week, she was awarded the Missouri Valley Conference’s (MVC) Golfer of the week.

Not only did she win the award in consecutive weeks, Lemek also won the award for her 18th time as a Brave, which is a MVC record. Her greatness can also be symbolized by her ability to go sub-80 for 17 consecutive rounds. That 17 round sub 80 streak is good for the fourth longest streak in Bradley’s history. Also, her top-10 finish at the invite was her fourth of the season so far.

Other than Lemek’s record setting performance, Roadley followed with a solid outing as she recorded a season best one-over 73. That was her best showing since march of last season. The sophomores also made some noise, with Ally Scaccia tying for 47th and Grace Henderson finishing tied for 66th.

The Braves don’t return to action until the next academic semester, when they travel to Jacksonville, Florida to take part in the Amelia Island Intercollegiate Feb. 22.
