Over/Under: Will Dallas Cover 7.5-point spread vs. Bears?

Bet on it!

By: Josh Nelson

I don’t think this game is going to necessarily be a blowout, but the Cowboys should be able to cover the spread rather easily. They have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL to pair with Ezekiel Elliott and Alfred Morris in the backfield. The Cowboys should be able to run rampant against a mediocre Bears’ run defense that will be missing key pieces in Danny Trevathan and Eddie Goldman.

Not to mention, Dak Prescott has looked good as the Cowboys rookie quarterback. Replacing the injured Tony Romo, Prescott has yet to throw an interception in 75 passing attempts.

The Bears could also be in trouble on the offensive side of the ball. They’ve struggled to get the running game going all season with only 137 yards combined over their past two weeks. They will need some type of running attack to help get the pressure of Brian Hoyer who will be replacing the injured Jay Cutler. The last time Hoyer started an NFL game, he threw four interceptions and lost a fumble in a playoff game for the Houston Texans.

Alex is completely wrong about the Bears. Their defense will have a tough time stopping anything the Cowboys do especially with so many injuries. If the Bears have any shot to cover the spread, they’re going to need Hoyer to show up big time and I doubt that happens.

I’ve got the Cowboys winning this one by a comfortable margin: 28-17.

I wouldn’t if I were you.

The impressive young quarterback Dak Prescott and his Cowboys are heavily favored next week when they host the putrid Chicago Bears on Sunday night. Though this seems like a dubious prediction, I think the Bears will cover the 7.5-point spread this Sunday.

Look, Chicago does stink. Cutler is not going to play this week and Chicago’s brutal offensive line can hardly protect any quarterback or open up many holes for the running game.

However, their defense showed impressive flashes in last Monday night’s loss. I feel like it’s tough to credit the Chicago defense with a couple of the touchdown’s Philadelphia scored because of a pair of Cutler turnovers. If you take those touchdowns away, Chicago routinely held Philadelphia out of the end zone when they desperately needed to. The Bears defense also locked down the Eagles running game throughout the night.

Josh thinks Dallas will “easily” beat Chicago. He’s not wrong in assuming that Dallas will win, because I’m sure they will. But it’s going to be much closer than the heavily biased Cowboys fan thinks. The young Dallas offense will succumb to the Sunday night pressure playing under the lights as the Bears will force a couple key turnovers.

Don’t trust Josh on this one. He’s a gambler, but a bad one. Sure, Chicago will struggle to score with Brian Hoyer at the wheel, but Dallas will have their fair share of struggles, too.

Final score: Dallas 17, Chicago 13
