Dunderdale wins steeplechase at Illinois Twilight

Bradley’s track and field team posted fast times in the 3,000 meter steeplechase along with the 3,000 meter race at the Illinois Twilight last Saturday night.

Freshman Haran Dunderdale won the 3,000 meter steeplechase in his first-ever attempt at the event in college. Sophmore Steffen Uhrich finished in second, five seconds behind Dunderdale.

Junior Marshall Moyer finished three seconds shy of senior Chase Coffey’s track and field record, which was set last year. Moyer’s time was good for the third-fastest time in Bradley history.

Freshman Nikolas Hess also turned in a solid performance, clocking an 8:44.84 to finish the race in seventh place.

On the women’s side, junior Rosie Hiles and freshman Lauren Cunningham were able to break a time of 10 minutes in the 3,000 meter race for just the seventh and eighth times in Bradley history. Hiles finished fourth in her race while Cunningham crossed the line seventh.

Freshman Michael Ward set a personal high in the 1,500 meter, clocking a 3:48.77. Ward shaved eight seconds off his personal record en route to setting the second-fastest time in Bradley history.

Sophomore Mike Bianchina also performed well, finishing less than a second behind Ward to come in seventh place.

The men’s and women’s track teams ran in the Drake Relays and the Penn Relays last night Those races were not finished before press time.
