Koch steps down from greek director position

Screen Shot 2013-09-08 at 1.34.44 PMUpon the departure of Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life Jesse Koch on Aug. 9, senior organizational communications major and Director of Panhellenic Recruitment Kyle Nadeau and junior nursing major and Assistant Director of Panhellenic Recruitment Ingrum were left without a director.

Shortly thereafter, Director of Student Activities Tom Coy stepped in as interim director.

“I think Kylie and I both were a little nervous after Jesse Koch accepted a job elsewhere shortly before school started,” Ingrum said. “I just want to thank everyone who helped Kylie and I succeed, especially [Coy]. We could not have done this without him. He was a phenomenal resource for us this past weekend.”

Koch accepted the position of assistant director of Greek Life and Housefellow at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Penn. this summer on short notice. Bradley was not able to find a replacement in time for the Panhellenic formal recruitment period, but is still searching.

Interim Vice President of Student Affairs Nathan Thomas enlisted the help of Coy, Assistant Director of Multicultural Student Services Norris Chase and Director of Campus Recreation and Athletic Facilities Jessie Gentry to oversee greek life and help conduct the national search.

Norris will continue working with the Non-Panhellenic Council, Gentry will advise the Interfraternity Council and Coy will oversee the Panhellenic Council and major greek programs until the position is filled.

Coy said that advising the greek system is nothing unfamiliar to him, and that he enjoys taking part in such an involved group on campus.

“I have been advising fraternities and sororities for more than 15 years,” Coy said. “It was not a big adjustment. Jesse Koch met with all of us to transition and also share the ‘Bradley way’ with us.”
