New leadership for the SAO: Bradley graduate joins the student activities staff

There is a new face behind late night activities and campus concerts this year. Bradley graduate Lauren Sandstrom returned to campus this summer as the new assistant director of student activities.

After completing a master’s degree in education and student affairs at Iowa State University, Sandstrom said she was excited to accept a position at Bradley.

“At my graduate assistantship at Iowa State University I was working with After Dark, their late night program, and I joked that I could come back and work with Bradley’s Late Night BU,” she said. “I hoped, but I never imagined that I would be able to come back to Bradley.”

Being a Bradley graduate, Sandstrom said she was able to easily adjust to the position.

“Being familiar with programming as well as seeing and participating [in those programs] as a student really allowed me hit the ground running,” she said.

As the assistant of student activities, Sandstrom will work closely with new Director of Student Activities Tom Coy and advise several student groups including the Activities Council of Bradley University (ACBU).

“[I am looking forward to] having the opportunity to continue building relationships with students [at Bradley] and to help them grow as event planners,” she said.
