Track Records Fall in California

With both men’s and women’s track teams making strides in California as well as Illinois, the track season is starting to heat up.

At the San Francisco Distance Carnival, junior Chase Coffey broke a school record for the second week in a row by posting a new mark in the 10,000 meters, improving his time by five seconds.

For the women at the Stanford Invitational, sophomore Emily Delvo continued to improve. She set a career best time in the 800 meters.

Sophomore Kristen Busch had a record setting performance as well, shattering an old school record in the 10,000 meters by more than a minute.

On top of that, Busch has been named the MVC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week, for the second consecutive week.

Things continue to look good as the rest of the team participated in the Eastern Illinois University Invitational.

“The crew battled windy and cold conditions and still had a big night,” Coach Marc Burns said.

Freshman Casey Kramer was a top finisher for Bradley in the 800 meters with junior Taylor Johnson right behind her.

On the men’s side, sophomore Cole Dill had a season-best time in the 1,500 meters.

“We had arguably one of the best days in the history of the program today: three school records, five personal bests in California and six more personal bests at Eastern Illinois,” Burns said.

The men and women’s track team heads to Champaign this weekend for the Illinois Twilight.
