Wii U production ends

This week, Nintendo confirmed that production of the Wii U has ended in Japan. Sales for the console have fallen 75 percent over the last year, with only 750,000 Wii U systems sold over the last nine months (for comparison, Sony has sold 1.9 million PlayStation 4 systems since December). The Wii U has had a tough up-hill battle since it was released back in November 2012, having to follow up on the massive success of the original Wii. Nintendo’s newest console, the Switch, is set to be released March 3.

 

Dirt 4 reveal

Game developer Codemasters announced Dirt 4, the next game in its long-running series of off-road racing games.The game is slated to be released June 9 for the PS4, Xbox 1, and PC – hope you aren’t afraid of getting dirty.

 

Titanfall 2 sales fail to meet expectations

Electronic Arts (EA) CFO Blake Jorgensen acknowledged that the company’s futuristic first-person shooter, “Titanfall 2,” hasn’t quite met the publisher’s sales expectations. Despite the news (which no one in the gaming community was surprised by), EA has high hopes for the future of the title, citing longer-term sales goals rather than day-to-day sales.

 

This month’s Games with Gold for Xbox

It’s a new month, and that means Xbox Live Gold members have access to more free games throughout February.

Xbox One titles include “Killer Instinct Season 2,” Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime” and “Project Cars.” The Xbox 360 games are “Money Island 2 SE” and “Star Wars: The Force Unleased.”
