ForeWarn message sent after robbery on campus

The ForeWarn system was activated early this morning after a student was robbed at the intersection of St. James Street and Elmwood Avenue.

The man was walking near the intersection about 1:40 a.m. when a tan van pulled up to him. Two men exited the van, punched and kicked the student and took his wallet, according to the BUPD online crime log.

Police were called and conducted a search of the area. Officers stopped the tan van on Western Avenue and arrested three men after the student positively identified them, university spokesman Shelley Epstein said.

The student received only minor injuries in the altercation, according to the BUPD online crime log.

The initial text message warning students about an intruder on campus was sent out about 2:15 a.m.

It was unclear early Sunday afternoon whether the system delayed in sending the text, or if the text was actually sent at that time.

A second text was sent about 20 minutes later notifying students of an all clear.
