Police chief seaerch starting soon, no interim appointed

The Bradley University Police Department will remain without an interim police chief, but the search for a replacement of the recently retired Chief Baer will begin soon.

“We have a ranking officer with Lt. Troy Eeten,” said Vice President of Business Affairs Gary Anna. “The force is operating under command structure and there is no confusion as to who is in control.”

Anna said a position statement is being drafted that will cover what the job will entail. Once a position statement is decided on, a national search will begin. A committee consisting of members of the student body, faculty, staff, the police department and members of the president’s cabinet will evaluate the applicants.

The entire search will be open to members of the Bradley community.

“I know there was some concern about a open search,” Anna said. “It will absolutely be open. We’re quite confident that there will be no confusion.”

Anna said he believed the committee will convene as soon as the position statement is finished, which could be very soon.

“There could be a committee starting in the next few weeks,” he said. “As soon as the statement is up, the search will begin immediately.”
