Team Bradley will Race for the Cure on May 7

Peoria is preparing to see pink as Team Bradley sets up for the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

The team will return to the Metro Center May 7 for the race.

Team Bradley’s Captain Janet Lange said last year they had approximately 250 participants.

“We are hoping to have about 200 participants,” she said. “Last year University President Glasser was our honorary chair. We had a bigger group, and we don’t expect to have as many but as close to as many as possible.”

Team Bradley is participating in a number of fundraisers this year including a pink Pampered Chef sale, a pink bake sale and a pink geranium sale.

“We are trying to raise at least $2,000,” Lange said.

Participants can walk or run the race with a choice of either a 3K or 5K in length. For those who wish to help raise money without walking there is a “spirit walker” option. The cost, including a T-shirt, is $30 dollars per adult and $20 per walker 12 and under.

Lange said she is hoping for more student participation this year.

“We would really love to see more students register,” she said. “However, you don’t have to be a student to participate. Faculty, staff, community members, anyone in the U.S.A. can be a part of Team Bradley.”

Team members can opt to walk with participants who are not on the team.

“We want people to be able to keep with their traditions if they want as well as make new ones,” Lange said. “We will have charter buses to take members to and from the event so parking will be a non-issue.”

There will also be a bake sale for the team from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 20 in the Michel Student Center.
