THE GIRL ON FIRE

Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is back at it again in the second part of the “Hunger Games” trilogy, “Catching Fire,” where she is expected to spark an even larger flame then she did in the last movie. This is not a story of happiness, but much like the “Harry Potter” series, it tends to get darker as the books go on, with the trailers showing that the film is not abandoning this mindset.

After Everdeen and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) begin their victory tour of the districts in Panem, an uprising seems to be heating up across the country. President Snow (Donald Sutherland) gets more and more paranoid as he prepares for the 75th annual Hunger Games.

Clearly a rebellion is on the rise. There are sure to be twists and turns that will keep audience members at the edge of their seats. We will see the return of Cinna (Lenny Kravitz) and Haymitch Abernathy (Woodey Harrelson), but also introduce new actors like Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee. As in the first one, I don’t believe this movie will shy far away from the original plotline of the book.

Jennifer Lawrence has yet to fail us, and I believe she’ll stick to her reputation. If you read “Catching Fire,” you know that this is one of the most exciting parts of the story. It is not just another teen drama addiction, but a testament to oppression. I have all the confidence that “Catching Fire” will do everything right that the first film did wrong and produce an even more astonishing story.

Rotten Tomatoes already holds this movie at a high rating of 92 percent. This could be the best movie in the series, and you should definitely take the time this Friday night to see it. May the odds be ever in the hardcore fans’ favor!
