Students fight at party

A fight broke out during a party at the Garrett Center on Saturday night.
At 12:35 a.m., police were on security detail for the party when they were made aware of a fight that was breaking out.
As one officer was attempting to break the fight up, he received several blows to the back of the head. At that point, the fight started to move from inside the building to outside.
When additional BUPD officers arrived on the scene, they called Peoria police to back them up, according to police reports.
Before city police arrived, BUPD officers attempted to break up smaller fights in front of the building with pepper spray, police said.
