SCOUT SENIOR COLUMNS

So it’s finally here. As a senior, I have long-awaited the end of school, through the long days of class and long nights of homework.

But at the same time, I don’t want these college memories to end.

I came to Bradley in fall 2012 as a transfer student, and I didn’t really know anyone. I looked at various clubs to join but felt they weren’t for me.

I went about my first year focusing mainly on school and making friends and eventually came to love the place.

When scheduling classes for my last year, my adviser suggested applying for The Scout.

I figured it was worth a shot and would help me get experience for my journalism major.

When I went into the office the first time for copy-editing and met with some of the staff, I walked away thinking they were fun and a little bit weird.

But I liked it.

I instantly knew that it would be a fun environment to work in and gain that desired experience.

I know that I’ll never forget the memories from The Scout. With everything like puns, Scout-ings, I.C.P.A., funny headlines, random song outbursts, personality analysis, a giant bag of M&M’s, the quote board, massages and Buzzfeed quizzes, there was never a dull moment.

I love the atmosphere of the office.

We all have different personalities but something great to contribute, and we come together to make something awesome each week.

I love that we are a close-knit group, and through the issues and criticisms, we stuck together and committed to the cause.

I love the group text messages, despite what everyone thinks, even completely irrelevant ones, because whenever I had a random life question or comment, someone was always there to respond.

I love my Scout team.

Although my time here at Bradley was short, I feel so fortunate to have fulfilled that time as part of The Scout.

I’ve really gotten to know everyone and have become much closer with the time spent there.

I don’t think I realize how much I’m going to miss everyone, until the days at the office are over.

But for now, I can say that I’ve definitely found my niche here and if I could go back, as cliché as it might sound, I honestly wouldn’t change a thing.
