As a memorial to television arts major Frank Licka, who died in June 2014, Pi Kappa Phi fraternity brothers and Bradley Ballroom members will host “Dancing with the Pi Kapps” from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 3 in the Michel Student Center Ballroom.

The remembrance event will include five individual dances from Pi Kappa Phi members partnered with Bradley Ballroom members as well as a group dance.

“Each song we will dance to is a tribute to Frank,” Pi Kappa Phi philanthropy chairman Vinny Dellaria said. “It’s a song he would have enjoyed.”

After the performances, there will be an open dance lesson to the songs Licka performed.

According to Dellaria, a freshman graphic design major, the event will also include a slide show presentation with pictures of Licka.

Licka’s Pi Kappa Phi pledge father, Sam Kleinman, will perform a dance to Judy Garland’s “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”

“It’s a really classy song and Frank was a really classy guy,” Kleinman said. “That’s the one quality that always stuck out to me about him.”

Kleinman said Licka was “the most unique guy” he has ever met.

“He’s the only guy I’ve met that loved to play football and ballroom dance and go to Service on Saturdays,” Kleinman said.

Licka had just completed his freshman year and was a member of both campus groups that are hosting the event.

The event is free to all students. However, Dellaria said the organizations recommend a $3 donation, and all of the proceeds will go to the Pi Kappa Phi philanthropy, The Ability Experience, in Licka’s name.
