SAO honors students, organizations

Student Activities will celebrate its annual Student Leader and Organization Recognition Reception 5 p.m. May 5 to honor Bradley’s outstanding students and campus organizations.

The awards ceremony will acknowledge students of various colleges within the university and multiple student organizations who have demonstrated leadership on campus.
The ceremony, however, provides more to the Bradley community and students than just awards.

“I feel that the student awards offer validation for the hard work students are putting into campus,” Assistant Director of Student Activities Lauren Smetana said.

Twenty-two winners were nominated through an application process open to all members of the Bradley community. A committee reviewed the applications and selected students and campus organizations that impacted the campus as a whole by exhibiting merit, leadership and Bradley pride.

According to Smetana, the awards have served as a way to inspire students and organizations to get involved on campus by honoring their achievements.

Nominees for the awards ceremony were announced Thursday. Nominated students and organizations are invited to attend the awards ceremony in which the winners will be recognized.

“Many students end the semester on a positive note because the students feel they are being recognized,” Smetana said.

The prestigious honors and scholarships include the Greg Killoran Sports Leadership Award, Multicultural Program of the Year and Student Volunteer of the Year
