One of the newest clubs on campus is the Pokémon Go Club. Even though this student organization has just started, there are already over 60 members who love playing and conquering the game together.
Ryan Hickey, the president of the Pokémon Go Club, felt it was needed to create an awesome environment for others to play the game together, as well as to strategize solutions to conquer the levels as a team.
While playing Pokémon Go with friends, Hickey looked up and said, “This has to be a club.”
Everyone else unanimously agreed to make Pokémon Go a club in order to have fun, and have peaceful time set aside to help de-stress from classes, enjoy time with others, and even share their love of the game with those who have never played before.
The group felt strongly that this club needed to become a reality when, by simply walking around campus, they saw how many people were playing. They began asking everyone to play together, which became the general recruitment for new members.
Hickey said his love for the game has only grown since its new mobile version.
“When I was younger, I had all of the original games,” Hickey said. “When the app came out, it’s like the love I had for it quickly revived itself.”
Since this is the Pokémon Go Club’s first semester on campus, an official meeting time has not yet been established, but an email will be sent out.
Hickey anticipates on having everything up and running in the upcoming weeks.
Although the club has not yet started, lots of fun events are being planned to ensure this club kicks off on the right foot.
A few fun events were shared, such as a raid, where “people from the community will gather to help defeat the Pokémon.”
Another fun event that is soon to be scheduled is a walk around campus with “hidden Pokemon and [special hidden] eggs,” which everyone would get to discover together.
