Graduate fair inspires future paths

The Smith Career Center hosted its annual Graduate and Professional School Fair on Tuesday. Over 80 representatives from various schools and programs attended the event to help Bradley students explore the options after graduation.

The fair included graduate programs ranging from museum studies to engineering and professional schools like law schools and medical schools. This event has been hosted in the fall semester since about two decades ago.

“This event is an opportunity for students to interact with schools and programs [and] to learn more about the admissions process and ask some critical questions,” Carmen Kremitzki, assistant director of the Smith Career Center.

Diana Meza, a senior sociology and philosophy major, attended the event for the second time on Tuesday. She is hoping to go to a law school and become a paternal rights lawyer.

“My junior year, I was just trying to see what my options were,” Meza said. “Now, I know what schools I want to apply to, so it’s more technical questions [and] letting them see me one more time before I actually submit my application.”

Meza said many of the schools she’s interested in are attending the fair and have been able to answer her questions.

Jason Blumenthal, a management analyst for the City of DeKalb, Illinois, is a Bradley alumnus and was representing Northern Illinois University where Blumenthal got his law degree.

“I didn’t know what I wanted when I left Bradley. I knew I wanted to go to law school … I’m a bar attorney as of a few weeks ago because of exactly this fair,” Blumenthal said.  “This is kind of where I found my niche and what I wanted to do.”
