Letters to the Editor: World Languages and Cultures Department

The World Languages and Cultures Department is appalled by the alleged racist behavior of a faculty member towards a student. It is incomprehensible that in the twenty-first century in an institution of higher education such as Bradley University, which actively encourages and supports diversity, such conduct is present. In the World Languages and Cultures Department, we celebrate diversity. We encourage our students to engage with foreign languages and cultures both inside and outside of the classroom. That they are chastised for doing exactly that is disgraceful, on top of being obviously discriminatory. Everyone should be held accountable for their actions and the necessary steps should be taken so that an incident such as this does not happen again.
