2019 student body officers candidates

Megan Brezka

Major: health science, chemistry and neuroscience double minor

Position: student body president

Platform: “My main goals as President are (A) support the amazing work that our many students organizations are doing, (B) develop strong relationships between Senate and new student organizations and (C) interact, listen to and talk with students in order to become their best possible voice at the administration level.”

Belal “B” Kherallah

Major: business management and leadership, ethics minor.

Position: student body president

Platform: “My two main goals as president would be to increase the
efficiency and productivity of Senate, as well as serve as an effective liaison
between the student body and the administration, ensuring students have their
voices heard.”

Camille Sanders

Major: sociology

Position: student body president

Platform: “I want to increase transparency across campus and give
students the opportunity to be more involved in the decision making process here on our campus.” Additionally, she feels her various experiences on Senate help her prepare for the role of president. “This year I am the Chief of Staff and have had many different roles as Chief of Staff. I’ve been the Interim Speaker of Assembly, Interim Chairperson for Campus Safety and Community Relations, as well as Interim Chairperson for Campus Affairs.”

Andrew Yohanan

Major: management and leadership and marketing

Position: student body president

Platform: “One of my main goals for Senate is to establish better channels of communication between the administration and students. The creation of the public relations department was a positive step in better communication with the student body, but we have to do a better job at giving students the information they need. Another main goal I have is the designation of a first-generation student coordinator on campus. First-generation college students often lack the resources necessary to successfully complete college and this initiative would be the first step at helping an often-overlooked group.”

Isaiah Harlan

Major: political science, organizational communication minor.

Position: speaker of the assembly

Platform: “I want to make Student Senate more accessible to the student body and encourage more students to participate in General Assembly. It is important to have an experienced executive board. I bring six years of student government experience to Senate.”

Pierre Paul

Major: political science,

Position: speaker of the assembly

Platform: “My goal is to ensure there is a channel for effective communication between students at Bradley and the Student Senate.” Additionally, he said what makes him a qualified candidate, “My interpersonal communication skills and a strong connection to the residents on Bradley’s Campus make me stand out as a candidate.”

Emma Hoyhtya

Major: management and leadership

Position: chief of staff

Platform: As of the publication date, candidate did not respond to The Scout’s interview request.

Robert C. White

Major: international
business and business management and leadership

Position: chief of staff

Platform: “My mission is for Bradley, its students, to
collectively be what we desire to appear. My platform is to bridge the gap between so many of the sub-groups within Bradley which is what makes us who we are. The vision I have is one where the campus is interconnected in a manner
non-existent today.”

Andrea Jara Reyes

Major: marketing, concentration in professional sales and
entrepreneurship

Position: director of administration

Platform: “As a [student body officer], I want to improve campus
atmosphere and camaraderie. Connecting organizations with similar goals could be key to their growth in campus and could increase their outreach. I would like to be that bond that connects them together. I also want to be an accessible SBO to the Student Body and be actively involved with students to hear their concerns and goals and see the ways we, as Student Senate, could help them and bring value.”

Dorian Pena

Major: economics major and political science minor.

Position: director of administration.

Platform: “My goal is to captivate the passions that the student body has, I want to ensure that the gap between the voice and action is eliminated, establishing a platform for unity between the university and its students. I would love to use my platform on student senate to create an upsurge of enthusiasm on campus as
we tackle the issue of becoming a greener campus while connecting the student body with important liaisons on the university’s faculty.”
