2020 graduatations to be held virtually

May, August, and December graduation ceremonies will be held virtually on Dec. 19, according to a university email sent this morning.

In May, the university had planned a separate in-person ceremony on Dec. 19 for May and August graduates, but there are now no plans to host that make-up. However, all 2020 graduates will be invited to walk in-person once the university is able to host an in-person ceremony, according to the email.

“As much as we want to celebrate the accomplishments of our 2020 graduates together in-person, circumstances continue to prevent us from doing so,” the email stated.

The commencement ceremony on Dec. 19 will be broken up into two parts, with the first beginning at 9 a.m. recognizing May and August graduates. The second ceremony will begin at 11 a.m., recognizing December graduates.

The names of all graduates will be announced and photos will be shown to recognize students individually. Students will also have the opportunity to submit a brief message.

According to the email, graduates should be receiving further information and instructions next week.
