“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” is live in concert

The Peoria Symphony Orchestra will perform the score of the first Harry Potter movie as scenes from the film play on a giant screen. The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Peoria Civic Center. Tickets can be purchased online through the Peoria Symphony Orchestra. Prices range from $20 to $95.

Swing into Halloween with a dance party

A short beginner swing dance lesson and “spooky social dance” will be held from 8-10 p.m. on Oct. 28 in room 17 of Markin Family Student Recreation Center. Candy will be provided.

Trick or treat at the Smith Career Center

From 3-5 p.m. on Halloween, the Smith Career Center will be handing out candy, showing off their spooky office decor and offering the opportunity for costumed attendees to win a $25 Amazon gift card.

Trick for treats with Wags for Mags

At 6 p.m. on Halloween, students are encouraged to dress in their “spookiest” costumes to help service dogs work on their spook tests in room 17 of Markin Family Student Recreation Center. Visitors who donate treats or toys also have the opportunity to pose for pictures with the dogs.

Author visits campus

Manuel Munoz, author of “What You See in the Dark,” will present at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1 in the Michel Student Center Ballroom. This is part of the continuing Visiting Writers Series sponsored by the English department and the Intellectual and Cultural Activities Committee.
