The Alumni Quad was home to live music and snacks that supported Bradley’s philanthropies. All proceeds from Phil Fest went to the Center for Prevention of Abuse, Jewish Women International and United Service Organizations.
Sigma Delta Tau, Alpha Chi Omega and Theta Chi were involved in organizing the event.
“I think that it is nice to have different Greek houses on campus because we really do try to help better the community and give back to it,” Marchok said. “The Greek system isn’t all social, a big component of all the houses is their different philanthropies.”
Junior middle school education major, Cassandra Marchok, is the vice president of philanthropy for Sigma Delta Tau. She said that the goal of Phil Fest was to create a fun event to raise money for our philanthropies.
“I think Phil Fest is important because on top of raising money for good causes, it also raises awareness for those philanthropies and makes people think about different ways they can help different philanthropies and organizations,” Marchok said.
The bands Blue Monday, Grapevines and Swimming with Sharks provided entertainment during the event. Dynamix, Bradley’s acappella group, had soloists perform and two full group performances.
The group performed “Rhythm of Love” by the Plain White T’s and “Dancing on my Own” by Calum Scott.
Emmy Baker, freshman animation major, is a member of Dynamix and performed her original song, “No Where’s Lullaby.”
“I think Phil Fest [was] pretty rad,” Baker said. “I love hearing new music and the bands [were] really fun.”
According to Grace Elisco, junior management and leadership major and a member of Alpha Chi Omega, they started working on this event in January.
“We’ve had different vendors donate food and bands volunteer their time to just perform and be our entertainment,” Elisco said. “It’s an opportunity for each philanthropy to spread awareness and sell their own items as well.”
This was the first year for Phil Fest and the hopes are to make it an annual event.
