- On March 26, BUPD was dispatched to an off-campus residence of five students. The students were out of the residence between 3:30 and 4 p.m. When they returned, they noticed several of their items were missing. While there were no signs of forced entry, they noticed an unsecured window, and they couldn’t recall if the back door had been locked. Missing items included three bottles of cologne, two sets of AirPods, two watches, an electric shaver, a nail clipper set and a backpack. No suspect information is currently available.
- On March 26, BUPD was dispatched to the 1200 block of W. Main St. after a female student pressed the emergency call box. She stated that she had found a four-year-old boy left unattended near Express Liquors on Western Avenue. The boy was in good health, but reportedly not dressed appropriately for the weather. The student brought the boy to BUPD. At the same time, PPD had been dispatched after receiving a call from the boy’s parents stating he was missing. PPD brought the parents to BUPD, where they were reunited with the boy. After speaking with the parents, it was determined that the boy had unlocked the door and gotten out of the house. PPD cleared the call and claimed they would notify DCFS of the incident.
- On March 28, a female student, accompanied by her parents, arrived at BUPD to report an incident in which an unknown person allegedly used a key to unlock her dorm room while she was inside. It was later determined that a Bradley University employee on March 27 mistakenly unlocked the room, thinking it was one of the model rooms shown during visit day tours.
- BUPD assisted PPD in securing the perimeter and searching for armed robbery suspects on March 30. The suspects reportedly stole a child’s cell phone near the campus of Franklin Primary School. The suspects were seen at Sheridan and High Street and ran into the woods on Bluff. After drones and canines were used, authorities were able to apprehend the suspect and recover a weapon belonging to one of the suspects. All suspects were taken into custody.
