Police Reports: October 16, 2020

  • On Oct. 7 at 10:45 p.m., a student in the Student Apartment Complex called BUPD about yelling and other loud noises coming from a nearby apartment unit. Officers identified the unit and knocked on the door for an extended period of time before the resident opened the door. Inside the apartment were 15 students with open alcohol and not conforming to mask requirements. Guests were told to leave and the hall director was notified.

  • A BUPD officer spotted a male unaffiliated with the university sleeping in the bushes by Bradley’s Continuing Education Building on Oct. 8 at 2:25 a.m. The male got up and walked toward Campustown when the officer stopped him. He was warned that if he returned to campus, he would be charged with trespassing.

  • On Oct. 10 at 4:40 a.m., a garage caught on fire on the 1700 block of W. Bradley Ave. BUPD found a 56-year-old-male unaffiliated with the university on the ground near the engulfed structure and escorted him away. The male had noticeable burns on his arms and legs, and his hair was singed by the fire. When he was asked why he was there, the male was inconsistent in his answers. He was transported to a burn unit in Springfield, Illinois. The fire damaged a vehicle owned by a Bradley alumnus and a motorcycle owned by a Bradley student. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

  • A male unaffiliated with the university was found urinating outside the Foster College of Business building in Campustown on Oct. 7 at approximately 4 p.m. When BUPD told him that there were other businesses to go to the bathroom in, he said he couldn’t hold his urine in any longer and said, “When you gotta go, you gotta go.” Officers told him that he will be banned from Campustown.

  • On Oct. 8 at 9:40 p.m., BUPD was dispatched to the 1400 block of Barker Ave. A female Bradley student told BUPD that she did not want guests in the house, but her roommate still invited people over. She called BUPD and they observed 14 students in the house eating pizza and drinking non-alcoholic beverages. Officers reminded them of the university restrictions and the guests were told to leave.
