- Officers responded to an incident at the Markin Center on Sept. 13 around 5:30 p.m. involving two students engaged in a domestic dispute. The male student stated he had started communicating with the female student the week before the incident but claimed he never had a relationship with her. After he cut contact with her, she approached him while he was playing basketball at Markin. At the court, she pushed him and shouted obscene phrases at him. She then maced him, spraying his face and chest with pepper spray, and followed him as he attempted to wash it off his face and eyes. She eventually left the area before paramedics arrived. The male student declined transport to the hospital. Officers then confronted the female student at her residence to get her statement. After speaking with her, she was arrested for domestic battery.
- A student received a fraudulent email on Sept. 14, seemingly from Bradley’s psychology department, regarding a job offer. The student accepted the job offer and was asked to purchase office supplies for the role. The person who sent the job offer also sent a check to cover the office supplies but ultimately requested money in return. They claimed they had initially sent more money than needed and asked the student to return $250. Although the check was fraudulent, the student agreed and sent the money. The student became suspicious after the scammer reached out asking for money a second time. The student did not send any more money and immediately reported the incident to BUPD. An investigation is ongoing.
- On Sept. 14, a student reported meeting someone who asked them to send an explicit photo on Twitter. They sent a photo to the suspect, who then asked for money and threatened to expose the photo otherwise. The student did not send the individual money and reported the incident to BUPD.
- A student contacted BUPD on Sept. 8, stating that her license plate was missing from the front of her car. Upon examination, it appeared the license plate was not secure and had fallen off the car. The license plate was reported as lost. No further investigation will be required.
