- On Aug. 23, BUPD assisted PPD in detaining a person near Wyckoff Hall after receiving reports of a house party. Officers found a female student with a group of four friends standing around a vehicle near the party location. When officers were speaking with the students, they noticed an illegal firearm was sitting inside the vehicle. The female student reportedly became combative and attempted to walk away from officers. Eventually, officers determined that she was never inside the vehicle where the firearm was located, but was there to meet the individuals who were.
- BUPD received several calls on Aug. 25 from students expressing alarm over someone walking around campus wearing a clown costume. Calls consisted of complaints that the individual was following people and looking over property left in the quad. Officers found the individual near Olin Hall and identified him as a Bradley student. Officers told him to return to his dorm if he planned to remain in costume. About an hour later, BUPD received another call regarding the same student wearing a clown costume. The student informed officers that he was cosplaying and taking photos and videos for a project. The student left without further conflict.
- On Aug. 23, ShotSpotter alerted BUPD of shots fired around N Frink St at 2 a.m. Officers responded to the location, but were unable to find any evidence. One hour later, BUPD received a call from a student stating a bullet had penetrated the window of their apartment. The bullet managed to enter through the window, knock over a lamp, shatter a picture frame and leave a mark on the wall. The bullet was recovered between the wall and the couch. PPD is still coordinating an open investigation. No suspect information has been determined yet.
- On Aug. 29, BUPD received a call from a non-Bradley affiliated male. He was walking down the sidewalk onBradley Ave when a vehicle with three passengers approached him, shouting threats to shoot him. There was no evidence the individuals possessed any firearms. The complainant left the scene with no further issues. However, within the same time frame, a female student was walking near the Hartmann Center when a vehicle matching a similar description approached her. The passengers shouted, “take your ass back to your dorm,” before driving away. No further incidents have occurred. Investigation is still ongoing.
