Have you heard of The George Twins?

Neither had many Bradley students until Oct. 22, when the duo made their appearance in the Michel Student Center Ballroom.

Alan Powell from Anthem Lights discovered Nashville natives Jordan and Tyler George after auditioning for “The Voice“ and “American Idol,” according to their Spotify profile.

“[Powell] was like, ‘I want to start a project with you guys’ and he helped us launch our career. From there, [we] made a couple music videos on YouTube, and then that’s what set everything in motion,” Tyler George said.

Bradley University and The George Twins crossed paths when ACBU’s Music Live committee saw them perform at a National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) conference.

“We loved them,” said Mikki Tran, ACBU’s president. “These guys were just really good, so we thought why not?”

The autumn event was built around The George Twins’ bonfire vibe, complete with Jordan George’s acoustic guitar and free s’mores stations.

The audience was intimate and quiet, until the twins took the stage.

Sophomore psychology major Antonio Duca had only heard of The George Twins from the flyers posted around campus.

“My girlfriend thought it would be a cute idea for a date … I came because I wanted to see some live music [and] Bradley’s never let me down before,” Duca said.

Introducing themselves as the “Troy Boltons” of music because of their athlete-turned-musician history, The George Twins quickly stole audience members’ hearts with a mashup of Taylor Swift and Charlie Puth. The guys also jammed out with covers and mashups of songs by more popular artists like Shawn Mendez, Ed Sheeran and James Arthur.

During the performance the crowd started to sing along.

While the brothers absolutely killed their covers and made goofy jokes, their originals were more serious and genuine. Their impressive vocals and heartfelt lyrics were heard throughout “Heart off You,” “Beautiful,” “Shoulda Stayed” and “Make it Right.”

Jordan and Tyler George closed their performance by encouraging audience members come up to the stage and groove along with them to their original “Old School Love.”

Smiles were contagious throughout the room after the concert as the duo generously stayed post-concert for almost another hour. They asked for selfies, gave hugs, sang with fans and got to know each student individually.

“I love talking to people … music is an avenue for forming a relationship and connecting to people,” Tyler George said.
