On Tuesday, Bradley men’s golf wrapped up its second fall tournament at the Bluejay Invitational in Omaha, Nebraska, placing 10th in the team standings.
The Braves showed flashes of strong play across the three rounds, but ultimately lacked the consistency needed to climb higher on a crowded leaderboard.
Junior Carter Stevenson paced Bradley with steady improvement over each round, posting scores of 75-73-72 to finish tied for 33rd at four-over-par. His ability to minimize mistakes in the final round allowed him to surge up the standings, but an opening-round 75 left him chasing early.
Sophomore Weston Walker followed closely behind, tying for 37th at five-over. Walker’s 72 in the second round briefly positioned him among the top 25, but a closing 75 on Tuesday prevented a stronger finish.
The biggest jolt came from junior Brody McCarthy, making his season debut. After struggling with a 79 in the opening round, McCarthy bounced back with a sparkling 69 in round two, matching Bradley’s lowest fall score and reminding the field of his scoring ability. However, a final-round 76 cost him momentum, and he settled for a tie for 48th at eight-over.
Fellow junior Brogan Smith joined McCarthy in 48th, carding a career-low 73 on Tuesday that gave the Braves a late boost.
While Bradley’s tournament featured standout individual rounds, inconsistency across the roster proved decisive. A combined first-round 303 left the Braves playing catch-up, and even a strong second-round 288 couldn’t fully erase the gap. Bradley closed at 887, 23-over-par and placing tenth overall.
The Braves return to action Sept. 29-30 at the Dolenc Invitational in Madison, Illinois.
