After 2,430 regular season games and three rounds of playoff games, we are finally here: the World Series. This year’s World Series features two of the most decorated franchises in MLB history. The New York Yankees have won 27 world championships, and the Los Angeles Dodgers have won seven. This week, Sports contributors Jacob Hypke and Steffan White predict which team will add to their trophy cases.
Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers and the Yankees are undoubtedly the two most star-studded teams in major league baseball, with multiple all-stars each. They each have a player considered to be the best in their respective leagues: Shohei Ohtani in the National League and Aaron Judge in the American League. It will undoubtedly be an outstanding World Series with six or seven games. In the end, though, the Dodgers will be victorious.
The Dodgers have a better all-around lineup of batters. Seven Dodgers players have hit multiple home runs already during this postseason. While Giancarlo Stanton has hit the most and is arguably the hottest hitter in the postseason, he is only one man. While the Yankees pitchers have been better this postseason, they haven’t faced bats like the Dodgers yet. The Dodgers almost have more extra-base hits than the Royals and Guardians combined, who the Yankees played to get to the World Series.
It will be a great series with iconic hits and epic saves. The Yankees will have moments where they are leading by a wide margin, but the Dodgers will ultimately win the 2024 World Series.
New York Yankees

The most cohesive team is now the most rested team. The New York Yankees have only lost two games all postseason, and now they have the most rest heading into it.
They clinched on Saturday, allowing the team to rest and recover ahead of game one on Friday. The pitching staff and bullpen should all be full go for the whole series, giving them a leg up. As for the hitters, Juan Soto and Aaron Judge will command maximum respect in every at-bat they take for the rest of their lives, but the rest of the lineup sets this team apart.
Anthony Rizzo, Anthony Volpe and Giancarlo Stanton are just a few hitters who have stepped up in big spots this postseason to help the Yankees claim the pennant and soon their first World Series since 2009.
