The Braves returned from a split weekend on the road, competing first against the UIC Flames in Chicago before traveling with a loss to Valparaiso, only to take a victory to conclude the team’s road play.
In their match against the Flames, sophomores Anna Belogliadova and Madi Rogers won the first doubles match, 7-5.
Belogliadova and Rogers set the tone, but the rest of the team did not follow suit. Sophomore Mariia Pukhina and freshman Ruby Tseng fell in the second doubles match 3-6, and the Braves forfeited the third doubles match.
Tseng was victorious in every set of her singles matchup, yet Bradley still lost the match against the Flames, 6-1.
Despite the setback, there was a silver lining for Belogliadova and Rogers, who were named MVC Women’s Tennis Doubles Players of the Week.
The Braves were back in action a day later against the Beacons. Belogliadova and Rogers took the victory in their doubles match 6-4, and Pukhina and Compassion Tsai followed their teammates with a win, 6-4.
Tseng continued her singles winning streak with Pukhina taking the crown as well, ending Bradley’s road season on a high note.
The Braves are set to face the Belmont Bruins at home this weekend in their last match of the season before the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament on April 25.
