Last weekend, the Bradley Braves track team traveled to Arkansas and Notre Dame for its final two meets of the regular season.
On Friday, sophomore Jamie Phillips competed at the Arkansas Qualifier and broke his recent program record in one of his two 800m races with a time of 1:46.79. This time beats his past record at the Henry Valentine last week by almost half a second, which puts it in the NCAA Division 1 top 20.
Saturday cemented history as Phillips, who traveled to Notre Dame between days to compete at the Alex Wilson Invitational, ran a 1:47.49, placing him first in back-to-back races. With this first-place finish, Phillips holds the top five times for the 800m in program history.
Adding to the success, for the first time this season, Bradley participated in the Distance Medley Race, making history in their first run as a team. The team, consisting of Trixie Wraith, Carolina Martinez, Abigail Hancock and Kaitlyn Sheppard, placed first overall and set a conference record time of 11:07.24.
Coming out of the regular season successfully, the Braves will prepare for the MVC Indoor Track and Field Championship in Indiana State. The event will take place from March 1-2.
