Staff picks: Super Bowl picks

With Week 1 of the NFL in the books, it’s never too early for postseason predictions. Here is who the Scout staff thinks will take home the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season:

Baltimore Ravens

My pick to win the Super Bowl is the Baltimore Ravens. While there is bias in this pick, here is my reasoning for the Ravens to take it all in Super Bowl 56.

The Ravens already have had their fair share of injuries before the season even started, but that will not deter them from their plans. With the current roster and Lamar Jackson entering his third season as the starting quarterback, it is Super Bowl or bust for the Ravens.

By drafting Rashod Bateman and continuing to build a strong defense, the Ravens have every aspect of the game covered. While they may play third-wheel to the Chiefs and Bills, the Ravens play in one of the strongest divisions in the NFL.

I know nothing about football, BUT I have a good feeling about this one.

Florida has endured a rough hurricane season this year, and rough times lead to resilience. Besides, who better to weather the weather than a group of strapping pirates? With Tom Brady on their side, the Buccaneers are guaranteed a Super Bowl appearance, if not a win.

Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are hoisting the Lombardi trophy in February.

Their biggest hiccup last season was at quarterback, so they went out and acquired Matthew Stafford, a notably underrated signal caller who is a surefire upgrade from Jared Goff. I mean, look at how he tore up the Bears’ defense on Sunday.

Also, they still have All-Pros Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey on the defensive side, arguably the two best players at the positions. The defense ranked number one in both points and yards allowed last season and shows no signs of taking a dip.

Before last year, we’ve never seen a team win the Super Bowl in their home stadium. Now, we might see it in back-to-back years.

Buffalo Bills

I was teetering back and forth between the Bills, Browns, Seahawks and Chiefs, all of which possess more than potent offenses. However, the Bills are the most complete team of the bunch on both sides of the ball, and they’ll lift their first-ever Lombardi Trophy.

It all starts with Josh Allen, who is a top-5 NFL quarterback in my mind. While still having great running ability, Allen can throw to Stefon Diggs and the perpetually underrated Cole Beasley. The only question mark is their lack of a star running back, but I think Zack Moss will take a step forward and there are worse options than Devin Singletary.

Buffalo’s defense, headlined by lockdown cornerback Tre’Davious White, should be the least of their worries. The Bills have experience and familiarity in their front seven, and they will be enough to stymie the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson.

In possibly one of the Bills’ final years in Highmark Stadium, look for them to go out with a bang.
