Alpha Chi named national representative

For the first time in Bradley history, not one, not two, but three sorority women have been selected for each of their respective chapters to serve on a national level.
Senior hospitality leadership major Jordan Garcia of Alpha Chi Omega was selected April 21 to colonize a new Alpha Chi Omega chapter at Florida International University in Miami, Florida.
Garcia joined senior psychology major Brianna Blackshire of Kappa Delta and senior journalism major Kira Rysiewicz of Sigma Kappa, who were selected as national leadership consultants for their sororities earlier this year, to develop and strengthen various collegiate chapters nationwide.
“I am so unbelievably excited to be a resident consultant this fall,” Garcia said. “I get to bring Alpha Chi Omega to [Florida’s] campus and start a brand new chapter. Our training hasn’t even started yet, and I have felt so welcomed by all of our consultants both new and old.”
According to Garcia, Alpha Chi Omega has two types of consultants: traveling and resident. A traveling consultant works with chapters on areas of improvement such as retention, recruitment and programming, while a resident consultant remains on one campus for an extended period of time to recruit and develop members for the colonization of a new chapter.
Garcia said she was proud to be part of a community that fosters and develops the leadership skills she has gained from Bradley’s greek life.
“I am so proud of my two fellow new consultants Kira and Bri, and I’m amazed that three out of the seven sororities at Bradley are being represented at their headquarters this year,” Garcia said.
“It’s a great reflection of how amazing our greek life is here at Bradley, and I wish them all the best.”
Garcia will begin training June 15 at Alpha Chi Omega headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Her consultant residency in Miami will begin in August.
Garcia said she looks forward to the opportunity and is excited to see how each of the three Bradley sorority women will grow from this experience while giving back to their chapters.
“I can’t wait to swap consultant stories,” she said.
