Club paints new perspective

There is a new art club on the scene this semester.

The Visual Arts Club (VAC) will hold its first meeting Thursday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. on the first floor of the Heuser art building.

Both art majors and non-majors can join VAC. Some possible events for the club are gallery outings, art and movie nights, organizing pop up art shows on campus and more.

Events are focused around students’ interests, based on what the members of the club actually want to do. The club was founded by senior painting major Ryan Dowell. Other students that helped coordinate the club are fellow seniors Sharon Meyer, Nicole Maslow and Karson Mayer.

“The purpose of the club is to foster interest and provide information in the field of art, promote creative endeavors and create a strong sense of unity and a student identity within the Bradley art community,” Dowell said.

Other art clubs at Bradley include the BU Photography club, Pottery club, Spectrum and the Bradley chapter of the American Institute for Graphic Arts (AIGA).

The BU Photography club is open to all members of the community. The Pottery club sponsors events to help support ceramic studio and visiting artists. Spectrum is an organization open to all students who want to further art awareness and to display their work. AIGA is a professional membership organization for design students, which helps designers at each stage of their career.
