Destiny’s Big Release

Video gaming’s next big blockbuster is here. Its name: “Destiny.” This highly anticipated title was developed by Bungie (creator of the critically acclaimed “Halo” series), published by Activision and is already making waves.

“Destiny” can be described as a shared world shooter. In simple terms, players can interact directly with other real life players in-game in the world of “Destiny.” It is also played in the first-person style, similar to games like “Borderlands” and “Call of Duty.”

In the game, you can choose to play as one of three classes: Titan, Warlock or Hunter, each of which has different play styles to suit any and all gamers.

After choosing a class, players act as guardians of the last city on Earth and travel throughout the solar system to reclaim Earth’s lost treasures.

According to VGchartz.com, “Destiny” garnered more pre-sales than any other video game in history and also had a whopping 4.6 million people beta test the game. Activision stated they shipped $500 million in games on release day.

To go along with the massive release, Bungie opened its doors in Bellevue, Washington for a release day party. For the throngs of avid gamers that had the unique opportunity to attend, this was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

At the release party, players were able to meet with the developers, get a behind the scenes look at Bungie’s studio, get exclusive signed prints of “Destiny” concept art and, of course, play the game with one another, even challenging the developers.

As players flocked to play “Destiny” on the first day of its release, the game is expected to join the ranks of Activision’s giants like World of Warcraft and Call of Duty.

Destiny is available on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. For players who do not yet own a PS4 or Xbox One, but plan on buying one in the future, this game is ideal. If it is bought digitally on the PS3 or Xbox 360, players will also be granted a free digital download of the game for PS4 or Xbox One.
