How To Have a Good Date in Peoria

The River City has all kinds of great and diverse locations to choose from for a nice dinner. If you want a smaller venue that serves specialty food, then Hofbrau is your place.

This is one of few places in Peoria with authentic German food on the menu, and with authenticity comes deliciousness. Since it’s small, an early arrival may be best on weekend nights. After the dinner, you can tell all your friends how much she loved the bratwurst.

If Hofbrau doesn’t pique your interests, another great location is Mango: Fondue and Lounge. Mango offers a more modern twist on fondue and makes it fun. A three-course meal combo that includes cheese, broth and meat fondues may be topped off with a dessert fondue to end the night.

Along with the multitude of different cheese combinations and dessert options, Mango also has appetizers like fried calamari, mango pork kabobs and plenty more. Be warned: it usually takes a while to finish all three courses, so if you visit Mango, don’t expect a short dinner.

There are plenty of other restaurants in Peoria that offer something special; it’s just a matter of branching out and finding them. However, with good restaurants, there are also ones that aren’t so great. Just to list a few: Logan’s Steakhouse, Big Al’s, Avanti’s or Buffalo Wild Wings.

Logan’s Steakhouse is a chain restaurant with a three and a half star rating on its Google review. Most customer comments referenced small portions that cost too much and poor service.

Big Al’s is also a negative, Ghost Rider; just ask a basketball player for his review.

As for Buffalo Wild Wings, it’s a great place to watch a sports game, but when it comes to conversing with your date, it’s no touchdown location.

Lastly, Avanti’s is just not an impression you want to make on a date. When the most expensive thing is $12, and you get a 10 percent discount, your date is not going to feel important or special.

Be open minded to try new things. You can find fun activities like bowling, visiting the Riverfront Museum, or trying out a new restaurant like Kelleher’s. Once that mindset takes in, you will see Peoria isn’t so bad after all.
