POLICE REPORTS – WEEKEND RECAP OF ALCOHOL INCIDENTS

  • 9:35 p.m. Feb. 8 An officer on the 1500 block of Institute Pl. heard what sounded like a female screaming. He went to the parking lot of a fraternity on the 1500 block of Fredonia Ave. and saw two male students screaming. One threw a can of beer under a vehicle. Both admitted consuming alcohol and received tickets for underage drinking. 
  • 10:50 p.m. Feb. 8 An officer patrolling the intersection of Barker Ave. and Glenwood Ave. saw a non-student male holding an open can of beer. He was issued a ticket for alcohol on a public roadway.
  • Midnight Feb. 9 An officer patrolling the intersection of Barker Ave. and Glenwood Ave. saw a non-student male walking with a cup of beer. The male threw down the cup and was stopped. He was issued a ticket for underage drinking and blew a .108 for a breathalyzer test.
  • Midnight Feb.9 An officer saw a minor non-student female stumble out the back of a fraternity house on the 1500 block of Fredonia Ave. She was stopped and became semi-conscious. Medics were contacted. The minor female said she was visiting a female student friend, and the officer found the friend in the fraternity house. The friend said that she and the minor female were served “jungle juice” at the fraternity. They were both transported to Methodist Hospital.  A male student who was identified as the fraternity’s president was told to shut down the party. He was issued a disorderly house ticket. The officer later discovered a minor non-student female and a minor non-student male in Williams Hall. They both admitted to drinking “jungle juice” at the fraternity. All minors were issued tickets for underage drinking. The minor female was treated at the hospital and released to her parents. The other two minors were released to their parents.
  • 1 a.m. Feb. 9 An officer patrolling the intersection of Bradley Ave. and Clarissa Ct. saw a non-student male holding an open can of beer. The male threw down the can and was stopped. He was issued tickets for underage drinking and littering, and blew a .169 for a breathalyzer test.
  • 11:30 p.m. Feb. 9 An officer saw a female student having difficulty walking as she was assisted by a number of people at the intersection of Bradley Ave. and Cooper St. Two female students were stopped and became uncooperative and attempted to leave several times. Medics were contacted. Both females said they drank at a fraternity house in the 1400 block of Fredonia Ave. The first female blew a .196 on a breathalyzer test. The second female attempted to take the test five times with no results because she couldn’t blow hard enough. She was transported to OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Both were issued tickets for underage drinking.
  • 11:30 p.m. Feb. 9 An officer heard a non-student male screaming obscenities in the 1600 block of Bradley Ave. The officer stopped him and two male students with him. All had the odor of alcohol on them. The non-student was of legal age and received a ticket for shouting obscenities. The two male students were issued tickets for underage drinking.
  • Midnight Feb. 10 A male student was yelling obscenities at an officer. He was stopped, and had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and trouble standing. The male and his female student and male student friends admitted drinking at a fraternity house in the 1300 block of Fredonia Ave. The male was issued tickets for disorderly conduct and underage drinking.

 

  • 12:10 a.m. Feb. 10 An officer saw a minor female non-student at the intersection of Fredonia Ave. and Glenwood Ave. with an open container of alcohol. She was stopped and given a ticket for littering in a public roadway and underage drinking. She was released to her parents.
