In the fall of 2014, a new addition will be made to the honors program.
For the first time, Bradley will offer honors housing. This is an addition designed and proposed by Music Professor Kyle Dzapo, the new director of the honors program, in an attempt to bring a new bonding experience to students.
It will be located in Williams Hall floor three, with an area for men and an area for women with a common lounge in between. In addition to other locations on campus, honors program events will be held in the lounge between the two sections of the floor.
“This is not designated as a quiet floor,” Dzapo said. “We simply want it to be an opportunity to get to know others in the honors program and enjoy camaraderie.”
Those who would like to live on the honors floor, but already have a roommate in mind who is not part of the honors program, will be allowed to live on the honors floor with that roommate.
All the standard housing opportunities apply to the floor, including the ability to block up to five rooms. There will be a resident advisor and an assistant resident advisor for both the men’s and women’s halls, and the advisors members of the honors program.
Early move-in will also be offered as an option, including the assistance with moving boxes up to the floor as is offered on regular move-in day. This early move-in will allow for a few honors events before Welcome Week begins.
“Speaking as a current R.A., we may not have as many of the problems attributed to disrespect, such as quiet hour violations,” University Hall Resident Advisor Michael Chang said. “Since people will be more respectful, it allows a focus to be put on having great times. Forming a community will be easier.”
