The Bradley family will expand Nov. 1 to 3 when parents, siblings and extended family members make the Hilltop home for the fall 2013 Family Weekend.
In past years, Bradley has hosted separate weekends for parents and for siblings. There will still be a Siblings Weekend, but the former Parents Weekend has become Family Weekend to meet the changes in societal family structure.
“We wanted to make the weekend more welcoming by changing the name of it to be more inclusive,” Assistant Director of Student Activities Lauren Smetana said.
Many of the scheduled events are hosted by different Bradley student organizations and include everything from sporting events to movie screenings to food receptions.
One new event this year involves a Bradley partnership with Costco in East Peoria. Smetana said that students and their families can receive a free Costco membership that allows them to sample and shop at Costco for the duration of Family Weekend.
Aside from being listed in this week’s Scout, a full schedule of the 2013 Family Weekend events is available at http://www.bradley.edu/parent/weekend/fall/.
