Police Reports: March 13, 2026

  • On March 5, around 10:23 p.m., PPD, BUPD and the Peoria Fire Department responded to a call for a reported stabbing. The incident posed no danger to the Bradley students, occurring two blocks north of W Main St. in a residential area populated by unaffiliated residents. Upon arrival, officers located a 35-year-old unaffiliated male on the floor of his apartment with a single stab wound. The fire department administered first aid, but the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no signs of forced entry to the apartment, and officers obtained a statement from the person inside the unit. At this time, there is no suspect information, and the incident remains under investigation.

  • On March 6, a BUPD officer was sent to speak with a dispatcher regarding a disturbing telephone call she had received. The caller, an unaffiliated male, did not identify himself, but the dispatcher recognized him from a previous interaction. The caller asked to speak with BUPD Chief Brian Joschko, so the dispatcher attempted to transfer him, but Joschko was unavailable at the time. He then asked if the dispatcher could leave a message for him, but she told the caller she could transfer him to his voicemail instead. The caller responded angrily, shouting vulgar phrases, prompting dispatch to hang up the phone. His subsequent calls were declined. BUPD later attempted to contact the man regarding the incident, but he has not returned any of their calls.

  • A student’s car was left in the St. James parking lot at 9 p.m. on March 7. When they returned to the car at 2 p.m. the next day, they found their back driver’s side window broken. Despite the damage, there were no other signs of forced entry, and no property was missing from the vehicle.

  • On March 7 at 12:18 a.m., a student was trapped in the south elevator of Geisert Hall on the basement level. Operating engineers were able to open the door, allowing the student to exit the elevator. The student stated they did not need any medical assistance, because they were not injured. Maintenance staff alerted students that the elevator would be out of service for the remainder of the night.
