- On April 24, at 1:26 a.m., a female Bradley student was dropped off at Slice Hub from Zoo Nightclub by the Zoo bus. There, she spotted a group of soccer players from ICC who had also been dropped off by the bus. They were chanting loudly, so the student told them to be quiet. She claimed a Slice Hub employee handed her an Orbeez gun and told her to make them leave. The student then shot at the players’ feet until one bear hugged her to hold her down while the others tried to take the gun and her purse. The players also kicked the student and shouted insults, ultimately leaving a small scrape on her knee. When BUPD later analyzed camera footage, they confirmed that an employee was the source of the Orbeez gun, but they were unable to confirm the rest of the details, as the incident occurred off camera. Footage showed that she had been the one to approach the players with the gun, rather than being surrounded, and that, even though BUPD cruisers passed by three times, she didn’t wave them down. An investigation is ongoing.
- On April 26 at 7:10 p.m., BUPD was called to assist PPD with a shots-fired report at Bradley Park. When officers arrived at the lower portion of the park, they noted people fleeing the area. Soon after, they found a male with a gunshot wound to the head. The injury was life-threatening, so the victim was quickly transported to the hospital. While inspecting the scene, officers spoke with individuals near the park shelter who noted that two groups were involved in the shootout. In the aftermath, 40 rounds were fired, and the 17-year-old victim was declared dead shortly after the incident. An investigation is ongoing.
- On April 29 at 5:40 a.m., an employee at Macmillan Hall left their e-bike unlocked. When he came back 20 minutes later, the e-bike was gone. BUPD reviewed footage of the incident and found a male suspect approaching with a bicycle before abandoning it at the scene and driving off on the e-bike instead. While the crime lab checked for prints, another officer later that day at 2:30 p.m. spotted a truck with the e-bike. After stopping the driver at a BP gas station, he revealed the e-bike had been sold to him for $20 at a nearby Marathon gas station. BUPD confiscated the e-bike and returned it to its original owner. Investigations into the suspect are ongoing.
- On April 29 at 9 a.m., a student parked his truck in the Institute parking lot with the door unlocked and the truck bed unsecured. When he returned three hours later, his toolbox and socket set were missing while the driver’s door was left open. When BUPD inspected the camera footage, they saw the same male suspect on a bicycle approach and rummage through the truck bed before retrieving the stolen items. The toolbox was later recovered on a bench in front of Heuser Hall with a few items missing, but an investigation is ongoing.
