- On Oct. 20, BUPD responded to Olin Hall after the fire alarm sounded. Upon arrival, the building had already been evacuated. After further investigation, officers found smoke in room 217 but could not locate its source. When the fire department arrived, they confirmed the smoke was coming from a microwave, but it didn’t contain any food. Downstairs, a facilities employee found a burnt potato warmer on the ground next to pieces of a smashed potato. Officers located the student who was using the microwave. The student explained that he was using the potato warmer to microwave his potato when it had suddenly started smoking. He then took it outside, where it caught fire, but he stomped it out without injury. The trash can outside Olin Hall caught fire when firefighters disposed of the potato warmer, but it was quickly extinguished.

Upon speaking with officers, he was unable to provide information on where he consumed alcohol or the address of his fraternity. When administered a breathalyzer test, he indicated severe alcohol intoxication and was transported to the hospital. After learning he was a Bradley student, the callers did not wish to press charges.
