To the Editor:
Thanks to reporting in The Scout (10/19/18) by Cole Bredahl and Haley Johnson, we’ve heard that a deplorable objection was made to music with Spanish lyrics on campus. As a department, we embrace Bradley’s core value of “an inclusive identity whereby we understand that our differences are our strengths” and thank President Roberts for his statement on maintaining “high standards of civility and mutual respect.” All of us in the History Department are looking forward to a time when our university will have more languages and more music from every part of the world ringing out from every corner of campus, from dorm rooms to Swords Hall, and even from the roof of our new Business-Engineering Convergence Complex. To this end, we’d like to contribute funding so that Abraham Barrantes and Micah Yoon, or anyone they designate, can bring more music on campus. We invite similar contributions from other departments.
