Center Court switches it up once again with pizza and ice cream

If you were just getting attached to the food options at Center Court Bistro from last school year, then you may want to do a double-take.

Two new restaurants have been introduced this school year: Kaboom! Pizza and Center Court Ice Cream. These replaced the wrap station and the nacho bar from last semester.

However, Center Court is no stranger to change. Since the fall of 2018, the dining options have rotated through many different food stations, 85 Acre Grill being the only constant.

There have been Mediterranean, breakfast and Asian food options, along with a wrap station and nacho bar from last year.

“I think the change in food options was a good idea,” said sophomore retail merchandising major, Ella Sharasheff. “Having a variety of food seems necessary when you don’t have a kitchen, and so students don’t get too tired of the food.”

In addition to the new food options, Center Court increased its Grab’n’Go snack options.

“I think it’s good, but not really adding anything new,” sophomore mechanical engineering major Michael Siler said. “There was already pizza in Williams and plenty of ice cream nearby, but it’s still nice to have another place to get food, especially now that we can’t leave.”

For Sharasheff, the feeling of limited options continues.

“I’ve only been to Center Court three times in the last two semesters,” Sharasheff said. “I prefer the student center and Geisert Dining Hall over Center Court because, from what I remember, Center Court had almost the exact same food.”

Even with the seemingly constant rotating in and out of dining options in Center Court, there are still some things students wish were options.

“Two items I wish we had are classic grilled cheese sandwiches and any type of pasta like mac and cheese,” Sharasheff said.
