College students have long held the reputation of pulling all-nighters. Whether it’s for studying, partying or something else entirely, they get hungry at some point. The issue of where to get food arises when students realize few restaurants are open as late as they are awake.
Bradley students now have an option for those occasions since a new Insomnia Cookies storefront opened in Campustown on Sept. 3. Open until 1 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, Insomnia is one place that can satiate those midnight cravings.
While there are no Bradley discounts, students may still find its location and late-night delivery service beneficial.
“As you’re studying late at night, you might want a snack,” De’Naja Pearson, Insomnia Cookies shift lead, said. “It might be a great advantage for them because not a lot of places in Peoria are really open that late.”
Students are not the only people on campus who appreciate the store’s late hours.
Sydney Ryan, a Bradley alum and sculpture technician, said she’s excited to be able to snack on something while working late in the studio.
“I think the latest I’ve stayed in here [the sculpture studio] is midnight or one, so it would be nice to just walk over,” Ryan said.
Not only are the hours appealing, but the quality of the cookies rivals other competitors in the area such as Crumbl.
“Anybody who has Insomnia says ‘Crumbl who?,’ or Insomnia is better than Crumbl,” Pearson said. “I’m not really a cookie person, but I’ve had Crumbl and I’ve had Insomnia, and Crumbl is very dry to me, not even to be biased.”
Aspen Vanderhei, Bradley sophomore psychology major agrees with Pearson’s sentiment.
“Honestly, I think they’re better than Crumbl because Crumbl is really expensive and basically just lots of sugar,” Vanderhei said.
Vanderhei said she will likely not be taking advantage of Insomnia’s late hours because she commutes, but is still looking forward to stopping by before or after class for a pick-me-up. Students can stop by for a sweet treat on weekdays starting at 11 a.m. and weekends starting at noon. For deliveries, students can order through the app or Insomnia’s website.
